On 8-9 October 2026, the ENSRA community gathered in The Hague for its Fall Meeting, hosted by our Dutch colleagues from the Autoriteit Nucleaire Veiligheid en Stralingsbescherming (ANVS). ENSRA extends its sincere thanks to ANVS for the warm welcome, excellent organisation and constructive collaboration.
The plenary meeting provided a valuable opportunity for members to exchange experiences, discuss current developments and further strengthen European cooperation in the field of nuclear security.
Key topics and outcomes included:
- Welcoming two new members: the Ispettorato Nazionale per la Sicurezza Nucleare e la Radioprotezione (ISIN) from Italy and the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN) from Romania.
- Reviewing progress within the working groups: updates were presented on transport security, cybersecurity and decommissioning and dismantling (D&D), including the publication of a compendium of good practices on security during decommissioning.
- Establishing a new working group on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs): a new initiative to address emerging developments in this area.
- Exchanging information on nuclear security events and international cooperation: discussions included the regional workshop under INFCIRC/908 hosted by the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK).
- Discussing the IAEA’s ATLAS initiative: members exchanged views on the initiative and its contribution to nuclear security.
- Exploring cooperation with WENRA: opportunities to further strengthen collaboration between ENSRA and the Western European Nuclear Regulators Association were discussed.
- Sharing national developments: the members’ round-table session provided an opportunity to exchange updates on recent developments and ongoing activities across participating countries.
The meeting once again demonstrated the importance of close cooperation, knowledge sharing and continued dialogue among European nuclear security authorities.
ENSRA thanks all participants for their valuable contributions and constructive discussions.
Looking ahead, the next ENSRA plenary meeting will take place in Poland in 2027, hosted by our colleagues from the Państwowa Agencja Atomistyki (PAA).
